Grocery Shopping Tips to Stay Financially Fit

Save Money and Reduce DebtIf you love good food (and who doesn't?) it can be a real test of will power not to buy every appetizing thing in sight at your local grocery store. Even the most disciplined shopper can lose their financial cool at the grocery store. It can be very easy to surpass your weekly grocery budget with a single trip to your local supermarket. If you think you are spending too much on your grocery budget, here are some tips to stay financially fit.

Clip those coupons-and use them although they may not be in trend or cutting edge, coupons are still a great way to save on your grocery bill. Take advantage of those circulars and clip coupons on food, fuel and home items that you use anyway. Coupons are often used as a promotional tool to entice you to try new items. If you can get a good deal on an item you've never bought before, that's great. But try to restrict yourself to items that already hold a space on your shopping list. You should also beware that many times coupons can help you save on name brand items only.

Is the same item available as the generic store brand? Sometimes you can save more on your grocery bill by buying the stores generic brand item rather than buying the name brand item with the coupon discount. Make sure you do a stringent price comparison before buying the name brand item.
Store brand items are usually just as good.

Speaking of store brand items, did you know that they are almost always just as good as the name brand item? In fact many of the store generic brands are made in exactly the same factories, just with a different label. Store brands are held to the same quality standards as other items on the shelves of your grocery store. Buying the store brand is an easy and effortless way to save money on a regular basis.

Shop at your local farmer's market, the produce will often be fresher and last longer, meaning less waste.
Shopping at your local farmer's market can be a great way to shop for fresh fruit and produce. Shopping at a farmer's market is usually a great way to save money on fresh local produce, especially if you are lucky enough to live in an area with an abundance of farms, orchards and agriculture. Shopping at your local farmer's market is also eco-friendly because the food travelled less distance to get to you, thus saving on fuel. This can be a wonderful opportunity to get to know your local growers.

To save money, buy in bulk if you are financially able too. Buying in bulk can be a great way to stay financially fit and save money. If you have the space and money to buy in bulk, this can be a great way to save money on your grocery bill and save time as well. Be sure you are buying things you truly need and will use. It can be tempting to buy a four-pack of kitchen napkins if you see them on sale, but if you know that you probably don't need that many napkins and don't have the storage space, it's probably better to opt for your usual buy. Of course, there are certain products that all of us can stock up on safely. Toilet paper, laundry detergent, soap and other essentials are safe bets when it comes to buying in bulk. Make sure that you don't buy anything that will go bad within two weeks.

If you are in a young family consider, making up your own small buying group amongst your friends, if you can buy in bulk as a small group the savings can be astounding.

Consider a co-op membership or your wholesale big box store. If you have a local co-op store or wholesale store in your area, you may want to consider buying a membership. A co-op membership means that you have access to a wide variety of natural products and local organic produce. When you pay your member fees, you are effectively buying into the co-op and becoming partial owner.

Eat Your Vegetables

vegetablesEat your vegetables” as mothers we say it to our children just as our mothers said it to us. I’ve never read about the important qualities that vegetables hold in the prevention or at least the reduction of risk for some diseases. I’d like to share some of those with you.

First of all, tomatoes. Tomatoes contain an antioxidant called Lycopene. Lycopene has been linked to the reduction of pancreatic and cervical cancer. Tomatoes are a tough one to “mask” for children, but as adults we can throw it into a salad, and have a daily serving.

Then there are the vegetables which fall into the Crucuferous famiy, also known as your broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts and tunips to name a few. There is an enzyme called Sulforaphane, which blocks the growth of tumors. My favorite variation with the broccoli is to throw some cheese on it, it takes away that scary green, and makes it different for the kids.

Finally, soybeans, yeah the thought of tofu doesn’t register well, but there are several other ways to get a daily serving of this cholesterol lowering vegetable. For example, soymilk, and vegeburgers. Soybeans have also been linked to the prevention of certain types of cancer. It is a compound in the soybeans called genistein that prevents the growth of certain cancer cells. Amazing.

So at least now we know WHY mom always made us eat vegetables.

College Fund Saving Secrets.

College Fund SavingReady to start saving for college for your child? Its never too soon, and every little cent counts down the line. The world of financial aid and FAFSAs, scholarships and EFC are crazy and confusing. SO how do you know how and how much to start saving for college. What is a Education Savings Account. Every parent says they want to start a college fund for their child, but where to store it: under a mattress, in a Swiss bank account? You don’t want to have tax penalties but you want to earn the maximum for your child. There are so many options. As a parent, I can say that it is most confusing. An education 529 savings plan is probably one of the easiest routes and is most commonly chosen. Free grant money and scholarships are out there for your childs education, but it doesn’t always foot the bill completely, unless your child is a genius. When I graduated High School many moons ago, I filed all my financial aid documents to the school of my choice, and I remember that I got some free grants, the majority of my package included $12,000 in loans between myself and my mother. For four year!  $12,000. Needless to say I went to community college. But if my mom had known about a education 529 plan, maybe the loan burden wouldn’t have been so high. I mean can you imagine, 4 years of college, a Bachelors Degree and $48,000 in debt, oh yeah, and no job to speak of yet. That’s a great way to start out.

Pocket Extra Cash By Avoiding These Simple Car Care Wastes

Car ServiceAre you spending too much money on simple car care wastes? Even if you treat your car like a spoilt pet, you can probably find ways to treat your car well without over indulging in wasteful car-related expenses. If we love them, Cars can easily make us act irrationally, but that doesn't mean we have to succumb to spending money that neither helps us or our cars that we love. Here are some tips to avoid wastes and save money on your car appearance and maintenance.

Do you fill your car with premium gas?

If you think that buying premium gas is the only way to go with your car, maybe it's time to do a little more research. These days with record high gasoline prices, you should try to make sure that you are not overspending. Generally speaking, your car will be OK if you simply buy the cheap gasoline providing that it doesn't cause your car's engine to knock. Many people purchase expensive premium gasoline because they think it is a special treatment for their car's engine and that it will help their car run better, longer and more efficiently. In most cases, the octane will merely help prevent a knock, but it won't make your car immune to any of the other problems which are likely to occur.

Aggressive oil change schedules

Many people change their oil far more often than is really necessary. There are many tune-up chains and independant auto repair businesses that advise 3,000 mile oil changes. When in fact, most car manufacturers recommend 5,000 to 7,500 miles or longer intervals between oil changes. Get to know your car and your manufacturer's recommendations, then follow these rather than the oil change schedule your mechanic isrecommending.

Using the dealer for all your car maintenance needs While it may seem simpler and even safer at times,
chances are that you are overpaying on repairs and maintenance by taking your car directly to the dealer. Save money by finding a good, reliable independent mechanic. Dealer prices and parts are often over priced. Don't be afraid to shop around for a good price, even if it may be a little inconvenient or time-consuming, in the long run it can sometimes save you from parting with a heap of money.

Learn to change a flat tire

If you don't already know how to do it, make it a point to learn to change a flat tire. Not only will you
save hundreds of dollars in case that you should get a flat, you will probably also save a lot of time.
Who wants to wait around for a half hour or more in the heat or cold for somebody to come change your tire, when there is a very good chance that you can do it yourself? Don't be afraid to learn, find a trusted friend to teach you. Get out the car's instruction manual and follow the steps, it's not that hard. Practice in your garage or yard until you have it under control, or even think about taking a basic auto maintenance class if they are offered in your area.

Scrupulously avoid the ten dollar car wash Drive by any car wash and see how many people are waiting in a long line, just for a bucket of gray water or an overpriced professional car wash. Nothing shows that you care about your car than giving it a good regular cleaning on your own. Invest in the proper equipment (a bucket, blade, soap, water, dry towel) and see how nice it can be to get a good clean for a lot less. Even try just the bucket of water and a shammie cloth, you will be amazed, you really don't even need the oap. Keep a small vacuum cleaner on hand to pick up stray dust, dirt and crumbs from the interior.

Don't assume!
Many car owners make the mistake of buying a whole new set of tires when what the car really needs is new shocks or perhaps just two new tires for now. Maybe you have misinterpreted a brake squeal as a call for new brakes. In many cases, especially if you are not on schedule for replacements, these may be symptoms of smaller troubles. A brake squeal could also mean that you may need new rotors or pads. Make sure to investigate thoroughly and keep records of all maintenance so that you are not prone to jumping to conclusions and spending unneccessary money on over servicing.

Change - Our Ever Evolving Learning Experience

Change happens to all of us...There are many different stages of 'Change' which may feel indifferent and perhaps unusual. That's okay, it's all part of the transition process. Just remember 'change sometimes becomes fearful' as we explore the unknown of both the conscious and the unconscious.

Sometimes we need to focus on our own instincts and what actually drives us to where we choose to be our lives today.

'Trust thyself' We welcome 'Change' as our best friend'

Now let us talk about you! Have you ever been asked this Question either by your family, friends or even by yourself? "What do I want to change in my life?" Sometimes we muddle our way through each day, sweating great tears, emotions and stresses hoping for some type of recognition or a sense of purpose and / or achievement and for What? and from Whom? One might ask.

We gradually come to a time in our life whether it be sooner or later when we do actually ask, "What do I want to change in your life?" which then rolls into the secondary question and "How did I get here?". Spend some time in the next 24 hours writing your answers down. Be as honest as you can and try not to leave anything out, include both negative and positive findings. Now, upon completion of that task, "What have you learnt"?

If you are truly happy with everything in your life then 'self checking' of current status is always a helpful task which simply gives you a great sense of validation. If you are not truly happy in your life then our new found friend 'Change' is entering your space, upon invite of course. Remember the old Saying I am sure you have heard this from many different sources 'If you continue to do what you have always done, you will continue to achieve the same results', something has to change in your life 'NOW" in order to grow and develop into the person you truly desire.

Sometimes seeking assistance can be most empowering and can bring about the change you seek. Living each day as you dreamt it to be can be most satisfying and rewarding. Take the courage to search for meaning in your life 'TODAY" Invite 'CHANGE'.

Coffee Mate - Not Only Australian For Would You Like a Cup of Coffee My Friend?

Coffee Culture ClubFor those who are not familiar with the non dairy creamers, Non-dairy creamers typically contain sodium caseinate, a milk protein (casein) derivative that does not contain lactose and is not considered a dairy product. Other common ingredients include corn syrup and vegetable oil solids. And for the Vegans and Vegetarians, some creamers are based on soy milk rather than on milk protein.

In 1989, Nestle launched exciting variants of the coffee mate- Coffee Mate Lite and Coffee Mate Liquid. The Liquid Non-Dairy Creamer quickly became the number one liquid creamer on the market. Nestle aggressively added more flavors over the following 10 years, fat free products and single serve tubs. Amazingly, Nestlé's Coffee Mate Coffee Creamer was awarded the prestigious "Gold Taste Award" from the American Tasting Institute. This was the first time a non-dairy coffee creamer was included in this competition, and many chefs from across the country agreed that Coffee-Mate liquid and powder products have the best taste amongst all other competing national brands.

Additionally, several Coffee-Mate flavors were awarded medals for "Best of Show." Coffee-Mate flavors were judged in June 2001, awarding Coffee-Mate the 2001-2002 "Gold Taste Award."

If you are up to experimenting with your coffee, you can have a whole new experience when you try your coffee with coffee mate. There are so many different coffee mate flavors available and it is also available in four different varieties- Coffee mate liquid, coffee mate powder, coffee mate liquid concentrate and coffee mate soy.

Coffee mate liquid has many flavors like French Vanilla, Irish Crème, Vanilla Caramel, Crème brulée, Original fat free, original low fat and many other exotic flavors. Irish crème flavor is rich, creamy and blended with a hint of mint and is a perfect complement to desserts. The Crème brulée flavor adds a delicious taste of crème brulée to your coffee and makes for a fantastic dessert. The original fat free flavors add creaminess to your coffee minus the fats.

Coffee mate powder has flavors like Vanilla Chai Spice (which has a spicy taste), sugar free hazelnut, Pumpkin spice, Peppermint mocha, Cinnamon vanilla crème and many other flavors. Sugar free hazelnut offers the nutty sweetness of hazelnuts without the sugar. The cinnamon vanilla crème is delicately blended with real cinnamon spice and makes for a different, flavorsome cup of coffee. Coffee mate liquid concentrate offers three different exotic flavors- French Vanilla, Hazelnut, and Sweetened Original. French Vanilla gives you the rich, creamy taste of classic vanilla with a convenient Liquid Concentrate pump dispenser.

The non-dairy creamers liquid helps avoid mess by providing easy to use pump dispenser and can serve approximately 250 cups of coffee. Coffee mate soy is available in Soy French Vanilla and Soy Original flavors. In both the flavors, the soy is combined with vanilla and the smooth creamy taste of coffee mate (for second type) to bring a beautiful flavor to your cup of coffee.
